BUCKY PROJECT

PROJECTS BLOG ABOUT CONTACT

The Webster chair was originally inspired by sitting in an old Risom Chair in a used furniture shop. Before that the only way I knew of webbing on a seating surface was the ubiquitous lawn chair from the 1980's.

The Webster is a lounge chair as the webbed seat is very comfortable for longer durations. The webbing is supportive, moves with the body and has good ventilation. The geometry of the frame is low and relaxed for this purpose.

BUCKY-5

It also glows at night sometimes! (Note: The Webster Chair may not glow in real-life conditions)
The frame is made from a sheet of plywood that was found in an underground parking garage The sheet was cut and laminated, then pieces were cut out and assembled with glue and wooden dowel pins.

The Webster 2.0 started life as an update to the original, but has strayed from its roots. Pictures will come soon, but for now teasers can be viewed on the blog here, and here.
